Spotlight on innovation, automation and sustainability at Texcare Asia fringe programme

7 Sep 2017

This September will see Texcare Asia, the leading trade fair for modern textile care in Asia, open its doors for the 2017 edition. During the course of the three-day show in Shanghai, a wide selection of high quality concurrent events will take place, with each offering participants the opportunity to interact with experts from all corners of the industry, absorb an unrivalled level of knowledge, and expand business connections.

This year, to accommodate the market’s growing needs for automation and advanced technologies, the programme has been carefully planned to include a deeper focus on both of these areas. The fair’s concurrent forums include:

  • Texcare Forum Asia 2017
  • China Hotel Smart and Green Laundry Solutions Summit 2017
  • Convention on Applications of Smart and Green Laundry for National Institutes

A number of sessions within these forums will be dedicated to discussing the ways in which technologies can help business owners better respond to the rise of wages, the higher demand for personalised services and the pressure on speed. For instance, “Transformation of Systematic Laundry using RFID technology for business innovation” will be one of the key highlights during the course of the Texcare Forum Asia 2017.

Session speaker, Mr TP Chan, CEO of Systematic Laundry & Healthcare Services Pte Ltd, will provide the audience with a comprehensive overview of the laundry industry’s adoption of RFID technology.

“Automation is obviously the future for our industry, and RFID plays a crucial role in this transformation. Its track-and-trace capabilities, as well as its technological reliability, allow for much higher operating efficiency. It also significantly increases the visibility of overall operations without any additional expenditure on labour,” said Mr Chan. He also explained how there is so much more to share on the capabilities of RFID technology during the Texcare Forum Asia. “I look forward to exploring the future of the laundry business with our participants,” he added.

While operational costs are concerned, there is also an increased focus on sustainability across the textile laundering industry. For example, with stricter regulations on the discharge of sewage, laundry shops are under more and more pressure to meet the requirements for wastewater management.

In response, the China Hotel Smart and Green Laundry Solutions Summit 2017 is set to explore the future of hotel laundry under the theme of going ‘green and intelligent’. The whole-day summit will facilitate a range of in-depth conversations on trends, green technologies, regulations and compliance.

One of the speakers at the summit is Mr George Lau, the Executive Chairman of China Hotel Engineering Alliance and General Manager of SGF International Hotel Management Co Ltd. He will discuss the importance of sustainability within the hotel industry: “China’s hotel industry is experiencing explosive growth. While enjoying the increasing number of opportunities, it is also essential for the industry to maintain a high level of environmentally friendly approaches to production.”

He further explained: “We are paying a lot of attention to improve the comprehensiveness and diversification of our services. By adopting smarter technologies, it allows for more sustainable development, with lower resource consumption and less waste generation.”

Together with the Convention on Applications of Smart and Green Laundry for National Institutes, these forums are set to cater to every corner of the laundering industry. Other topics covered here will include profit management, customisations and add-value services, productivity optimisation and many other best practise initiatives.
